From corgi races and $5 admission to nearly seven-foot jumps and the richest Grand Prix in show jumping, Spruce Meadows is about to show just how much can happen in one September week.
It begins Monday, September 7 with Preview to the 'Masters', a full day of entertainment, shopping and family activities for just $5. Two days later, the Spruce Meadows 'Masters' begins, bringing the world’s best riders and horses to the Foothills for five days of international show jumping.
The 'Masters' is one of only four Majors in the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping, placing Spruce Meadows on one of the sport’s biggest stages. Friday brings record-chasing jumps nearing seven feet. Saturday brings national teams, flags and country pride. Sunday puts $5 million and a place in show jumping history on the line.

Start with the $5 Preview to the 'Masters'
On Monday, September 7, the Preview to the 'Masters' will bring back the original price of admission for one day only: just $5.
There are no show jumping competitions on Preview Day. Instead, visitors get an early look at the entertainment, shopping and family activities returning throughout the 'Masters'.
His Majesty’s Band of the Welsh Guards will travel from London, England, while Germany’s Celle Stallions and Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) Mounted Troop bring even more remarkable horsemanship to the day. Show Jumping 101 will also offer a first look at the sport before the world’s best enter the International Ring.
Then come the crowd favourites. The Corgi Races, Dachshund Dash and Spruce Meadows Prairie Dogs bring speed, short legs and plenty of personality. The Horse and Hound Challenge combines professional show jumping and dog agility in one fast-paced relay.
Families can also explore the maze, mini cows and goats, bouncy castles, crafts, face painting and a mini train in the Kids’ Zone. Add more than 120 local vendors and artists, food options, live music and the ATCO Pedal Prix & Activation Zone, and that $5 ticket can easily fill the day.

The Spruce Meadows 'Masters' Begins September 9
Competition begins Wednesday, September 9 and builds toward three major days in the International Ring.
Friday, September 11: Record-Chasing Heights, Live Music and Fireworks
Friday’s TELUS Evening of the Horse centres around the ATCO Electric Six Bar, one of the biggest crowd favourites at Spruce Meadows.
Think of it as high jump on horseback. The series of jumps rises with each round, pushing horse-and-rider combinations higher until only the best remain.
Last year, two combinations cleared 2.13 metres, nearly seven feet, and broke a Spruce Meadows record that had stood for 21 years.
After the ATCO Electric Six Bar, Germany’s Celle Stallions will perform in the International Ring. The evening finishes with spectacular fireworks choreographed to live music from His Majesty’s Band of the Welsh Guards.
Saturday swaps individual glory for team colours in the BMO Nations’ Cup.
Nine nations enter a team of four riders. Once all four have competed, the team’s three best results are combined. The six leading nations move into the second round, where they compete again for the BMO Nations’ Cup title.
The International Ring will be divided into sections, with each one assigned a nation to support. Cheer for the team assigned to your section, because the section supporting the winning nation will also go home with a prize.
Guests are encouraged to bring their loudest cheers and wear their biggest and brightest national colours for the chance to share in $10,000 in best costume prizes.
Sunday, September 13: $5 Million and a Shot at History
Sunday brings the $5 million CPKC 'International', presented by Rolex, the richest Grand Prix in show jumping.
The competition alone makes Sunday one of the biggest days on the international show jumping calendar. This year, there is even more at stake.
Germany’s Richard Vogel arrives at Spruce Meadows one victory away from completing the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping. A win would make him only the second rider in history to accomplish the feat.
The Rolex Grand Slam has only been completed once before, when Scott Brash secured the title at Spruce Meadows in 2015. For only the second time, one of show jumping’s rarest achievements could be decided right here in the Foothills.
Plenty to Explore Beyond the International Ring
The competition is the headline, but there is plenty to discover between rounds.
International guests will perform throughout the 'Masters', including His Majesty’s Band of the Welsh Guards from London, England, and Germany’s Celle Stallions.
The Blacksmith World Championships will bring elite farriers from 15 countries together for five days of competition. More than 120 vendors will fill the plazas, Horizons Fine Art Pavilion and Equi-Plex with artwork, clothing, home goods, gifts and equestrian finds.
Food trucks, concessions and live entertainment will continue throughout the grounds. Families can also find the Kids’ Zone, mini animals, equestrian vaulting, corgi and dachshund races and demonstrations.
On Wednesday evening, the Shopping and Barn Party Kick Off brings together more than 120 local vendors and artists, Southern BBQ, live country music from The Wine Soaked Preachers and line-dancing lessons. A separate ticket is required.
