A Day Trip to High River to Nourish Your Soul

Ladies, if you’re looking for a refreshing day trip just outside Calgary, look no further than High River, Alberta. Just a short drive down Highway 2 from Calgary, this charming little town is packed with delightful surprises that will make your soul sing and your heart do a happy dance.

High River's Healing Haven: A Sanctuary for Your Spirit

Have you been feeling a little overwhelmed lately? Then you need Inner Light Healing Collective like a plant needs water (or like I need my coffee in the first 10 minutes of being awake). This isn't a touristy stop; it's a sanctuary. Explore things like mindfulness, creativity, energy clearing, and healing. Check their schedule and find something that speaks to your soul, even if your soul is currently hiding under a blanket fort. If you can't find exactly what you are looking for, reach out to the owners Jess and Jody, they are the amazing ladies behind the collective.

Step Back in Time for Lunch: The Dining Car Awaits

Ready for lunch with a side of charm? Step inside The Dining Car at High River Station and you'll find homestyle cooking made with fresh and local ingredients. This isn't just about the food, it's an experience in a lovingly restored 1947 railcar, rescued by volunteers who brought it back to its former glory. Just a heads up, the space is cozy, so reservations are a good idea.

Retail Therapy, High River Style

No day trip is complete without a little shopping. High River's boutiques offer treasures you won't find in big-box stores. If you're a thrifting enthusiast, make a beeline for Courtney's Closet or Pekisko Trading. Hunt for vintage finds, unique clothing pieces, and hidden gems. For something new and charming, browse the carefully curated selections at Pixie Hollow or White Bull Clothing Co. These local shops support the community and offer a more personal shopping experience.

Coffee, Nature, and Reflection

Caffeine + nature = instant happiness. That's just science. Grab a coffee or latte from Colossi's Coffee House, a locally owned business proudly named after the owner's grandfather. Then, take your coffee to George Lane Memorial Park for a stroll.  Wander the paths down by the river and let the sounds of the water soothe your soul. Ahhhh, that's better.

High River's Sunday Secret

Is your High River adventure happening on a Sunday? Lucky you. Prepare for Pie Sunday at Art and Soul Gallery from 11 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m.. They are open until the pie runs out. This place transforms into a hub of community, art, and deliciousness. For just $7 you get a generous slice of homemade pie to eat while surrounded by local art AND live music.  It's a feast for the senses and a perfect addition to your day.
