You don't have to drive to the city for a great summer — the Foothills has a packed lineup of events happening right in your backyard (or just a short drive from Calgary). From live horse racing on Canada Day to world-class concerts and outdoor markets, here's your guide to the best of summer 2026 in the Foothills.

Millarville – KinFest Music Festival June 19–21 | Millarville Racetrack

Hosted by the Kinsmen Club of Calgary, KinFest is a three-day music festival celebrating the summer solstice with 15 bands performing over three days. A great addition to your Millarville summer calendar — right at the iconic racetrack.

High River – Guy Weadick Pro Rodeo June 19–21 | High River Agricultural Society

One of the most anticipated rodeo weekends in southern Alberta. The Guy Weadick Pro Rodeo (CPRA-sanctioned) brings top professional cowboys and cowgirls to High River for three days of saddle bronc, bareback, bull riding, and more. A true Foothills tradition. Get tickets here.


 Millarville Races – Canada Day July 1 | Millarville Racing & Agricultural Society

The 121st Running of the Millarville Races is one of the most iconic Canada Day celebrations in Alberta — thoroughbred racing, kids' activities, live music, beer gardens, and the famous VIP "Derby Western" experience. Gates open 10 AM, races at 12 PM. Tickets sell out fast, get yours here!


 High River – Battle of the Foothills Chuckwagon Racing July 23–26 | High River Agricultural Society

The Battle of the Foothills Chuckwagon Racing with the World Professional Chuckwagon Association is four days of heart-pounding chuckwagon action. One of the most exciting western events in the region — and a perfect July weekend outing. Get tickets here.

COMMUNITY EVENTS & FESTIVALS


Millarville Farmers' Market Saturdays, June 21 – October 11 | 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM Millarville Racing & Agricultural Society, 306097 192 Street West, Millarville

A southern Alberta summer staple now in its 43rd year, the Millarville Farmers' Market is one of the largest markets in the region with 185+ vendors — local growers, farmers, makers, bakers, and artists. Admission is a suggested $3 donation.


Bragg Creek Farmers' Market Sundays, June 14 – September 20 | 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM Bragg Creek Community Centre, 23 White Avenue, Bragg Creek (No market July 19)

Nestled among towering evergreens just 45 minutes west of Calgary, the Bragg Creek Farmers' Market is packed with artisan goods, fresh food, and handmade pieces — from baked treats and ready-to-eat eats to unique crafts, gifts, and small-batch finds you won't see anywhere else. Full market, great makers, and all the Sunday vibes.


Okotoks Farmers' Market Fridays, June 19 – September 18 | 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM Viking Rental Centre NW Lot, 204 Community Way, Okotoks

Run by Inclusion Foothills, the Okotoks Farmers' Market brings together 50–60 vendors selling fresh produce, baked goods, handmade crafts, and Alberta-made products every Friday afternoon. Proceeds support inclusive employment programs in the Foothills.


Okotoks MarketSquare Night Markets July 11, August 8, September 19 | ~4:00 PM – 10:00 PM Ethel Tucker Park, Okotoks

Okotoks comes alive on select Friday evenings with these popular night markets — local vendors, food trucks, live entertainment, and a festive small-town vibe under the summer sky.


High River Farmers' Market Thursdays, June 19 – September 11 | 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM 4th Ave SW, Downtown High River

A beloved High River summer tradition for over 35 years, also run by Inclusion Foothills. Stroll downtown 4th Ave SW and browse 30–45 vendors selling fresh-baked pies, breads, jams, local produce, jewelry, soaps, and more. Proceeds support inclusive employment programs in the community.


Granary Road Farmers' Market Fridays – Sundays, May – October | 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM 226066 112 Street West, Foothills County (just west of De Winton)

More than a market — Granary Road is a full family destination. Shop seasonal produce, artisan cheeses, honey, and handmade gifts, then let the kids explore the petting zoo, Playgrounds, and learning park. Come hungry — the food is always fresh!


Saskatoon Farm Farmers' Market Daily, July – October | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM 80181 338 Ave East, Foothills County

Experience farm life firsthand at the Saskatoon Farm. Open daily all summer, this market offers fresh pesticide-free produce straight from their own fields — including a popular fill-a-bag option for herbs, root veggies, and more.


Longview Country Market Saturdays, June 28 – September 27 | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM 110 Morrison Road, Longview

Set against the scenic Foothills backdrop of the Village of Longview, this Saturday market offers locally grown produce, handmade goods, and artisanal treats — a perfect stop on a Foothills road trip south.


Nanton United Church Farmers' Market Saturdays, June 14 – September 27 | 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM United Church Parking Lot, Highway 2 South, Nanton

Located right off Highway 2, this welcoming community market features garden-fresh produce, small-batch jams and jellies, handcrafted items, and homemade baked goods — a classic small-town Foothills market experience.
