About the Foothills Tourism Association
The Foothills Tourism Association (FTA) is a regional organization dedicated to strengthening and promoting the tourism economy across the Foothills. We work collaboratively with municipalities, businesses, and community partners to support sustainable tourism growth, destination development, and regional alignment.

 

About the Role: Volunteer Board Director
FTA is seeking engaged and community-minded individuals to serve as Volunteer Board Directors. This role blends governance responsibilities with active participation, reflecting the nature of FTA as a “working board.”

Board Directors are expected not only to provide strategic oversight and guidance, but also to contribute meaningfully to initiatives, committees, and projects that support tourism development in the region.

Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking individuals who:

  • Have a strong interest in and commitment to the tourism industry in the Foothills region

  • Bring relevant experience, perspectives, or connections that can support the organization’s mandate

  • Are collaborative, solutions-oriented, and willing to contribute actively

  • Represent a range of sectors connected to tourism (e.g., accommodations, attractions, food & beverage, events, retail, or community leadership)

 

Key Responsibilities
As a Volunteer Board Director, you will:

  • Participate in governance by attending board meetings and contributing to strategic decision-making

  • Support organizational direction, accountability, and long-term sustainability

  • Serve on committees or working groups as needed

  • Contribute time and expertise to key initiatives, events, or projects

  • Act as an ambassador for FTA and the Foothills tourism region

 

Commitment

  • Attend regular board meetings (frequency to be defined)

  • Participate in committee work and occasional working sessions

  • Commit to a term length as defined by FTA bylaws
